Shed deliveries

Buying a shed is a major investment for most people. Knowing that all the components will arrive after you’ve paid for them means a lot of trust in the company you purchased from. So how do all the bits and pieces that make your very expensive purchase arrive safely on site at the same time?

Usually around six weeks after you drop your hard-earned dollars on your Shed it arrives on site, looking like a giant Meccano set on a flatbed truck or a semi-trailer. The driver will unload it with the Hyab crane on the delivery truck and place it ready for you or your builder to check in preparation for construction. Photos are often taken by the driver at the time for proof of delivery.

For this to happen as seamlessly as it does a lot of people and different businesses of all sizes have been involved to get your shed and all its different components to you, together, and at the same time.

Here’s how.

In Shedz Australia case it starts with ordering the screws and bolts that hold the kit together.  When the order for bolts and screws is placed and ready for despatch, it is sent to the manufacturer of the brackets that connects the shed frame together, then consolidated on one pallet (Screws/bolts/brackets) for delivery to the manufacturer of the shed main components (Columns/Rafters/Purlins/Sheeting/Gutters/Flashings).

At the same time, the roller doors, if required for the job, are sent to the shed manufacturer for consolidation.

There’s a lot of paperwork, emails and a lot of kilometres involved in making this happen. Take a typical shed sale in Moree, NSW. The major components will be manufactured in Tamworth, the roller doors will be manufactured a factory in Brisbane, while the shed brackets are manufactured in another factory in Brisbane. Each of the manufacturers will deliver their products separately to the shed manufacturer, in this case, the Metroll branch in Tamworth.

Here the components are all consolidated into the one delivery you see turn up, usually around six weeks after you’ve placed your order.

In the past, we’ve seen roller doors damaged in ground handling and during transport, so to prevent handling damage Shedz Australia roller doors are protected by substantial wrapping when they leave the factory.

It is ideal if you can check the kit off using the Bill of materials line by line, as soon as the kit arrives, so that if anything is missing or damaged it can be reported and replaced straight away.

It’s a great system, it’s been developed over many years and works well.
